Calling all comedy creators!

We Are NOW Accepting submissions
for our next variety sketch show
on June 29, 2024

If you are a comedy creator, and would like to have your masterpiece considered for our Sketchapalooza! show, please submit it here. Submission types accepted are:

  • Sketch scripts (for live performance)

  • Original song/parody (for live performance)

  • Film shorts - sketch, song, cartoon, etc.


The strongest submissions will be chosen to be presented in front of a live audience on the show day June 29 at 7:00PM.

DATES

May 29th (Wed), 11:59 PM, online: Submissions due*

June 23rd (Sun), 6:00 PM, @ PIT: (REQUIRED) Dress rehearsal for chosen submissions

June 29th (Sat), 6:00 PM @ PIT: Live performer call time

June 29th (Sat), 7:00 PM @ PIT: Show (open to the public)

*Submissions will be chosen for the show within 3 days of the submission deadline.


GUIDELINES FOR ALL SUBMISSION TYPES

  • Pieces shall not run more than 10 minutes in length.

  • Mature content is allowed. Discriminatory or offensive content on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, etc. is never allowed at the PIT.

  • The PIT can provide:

    • Basic lighting effects

    • Basic audio

    • Off-stage projector and screen

    • Handheld microphones

    • Up to 4 set chairs, and up to 2 set tables

    • A basic keyboard.

  • Anything additional in terms of production must be provided by the creator, and approved for use by the theater staff.

  • The stage is 8’ x 16’. Backstage space is 8’ x 8’.


Specific Guidelines by Submission Type

SKETCH SCRIPT (FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE)

  • Please attach a sketch script in DOC or PDF form.

  • The sketch script should include any tech cues, with links to content where applicable.

  • Once a script has been chosen for the show, it is the creator’s responsibility to coordinate rehearsals with actors, and ensure props and costumes have been acquired. The PIT can help connect writers with actors where needed.

ORIGINAL SONG/PARODY (FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE)

  • Please attach the lyrics to the song in DOC or PDF form.

  • Please attach an audio file of the song being sung, INCLUDING background accompaniment. It does not have to be sung by the actors who will be performing it live.

  • Once a song has been chosen for the show, it is the creator’s responsibility to coordinate rehearsals with actors/singers/musicians, and ensure props and costumes have been acquired. The PIT can help connect writers with actors/singers/musicians where needed.

FILM SHORT

  • Please attach a video file of the fully produced film short.

  • If chosen, the video will be shown on a large projection screen with audio through the house PA system.

DOUBLE
HEADER

Colorado Springs most epic improv contest for two-person improv teams returns. Signing up is free! The audience vote counts for almost half of your score, so just make sure to invite people to cheer your team on!

SATURDAY MAY 18TH AT 7:00PM
Call time is 5:30PM for performers

2-person improv teams go head to head in this tournament style improv contest. Teams get 10-15 minute long sets to perform any improv they want. They will get feeback and be scored by a panel of judges, and recevie points from an audience vote by applause. The two teams with the highest score at the end of the night go head-to-head in a final showdown of challenges. The winning team gets their own show at the Peak Improv Theater.

THE IMPROV JAM

Every Thursday* at 8:00PM come to our free Improv Jam.
Hop on stage as we host improvised games, scenes, and songs. We provide a welcoming safe space to try improv, or just come by to watch!

This event is free and open to the public. No reservation or tickets needed! We do accept cash/credit donations to help keep the lights on.
